The market in Thiès was very busy, but it was much easier for us to navigate than the markets in Dakar because it is not geared toward tourists.

We bought beautiful fabrics at this boutique. We then took the fabric to a tailor who measured us for traditional Senegalese outfits, which we picked up toward the end of the trip.

I talked with this man for a little while. He had lived in France for fifteen years before returning to Senegal. He described the difficulties of growing old in Senegal.

Mamadou Mbaye (left) invited us to his house for traditional Senegalese tea, and his mother (center) prepared delicious beignets for us. We were joined by Mamadou's friend Ibrahima Cissokho (right).

We made a couple of visits to the village artisanal, which is located around the corner from CNEPS.

In the evening, Salla Thiam (Mamadou Sow's wife) invited us to their house and prepared one of the most delicious meals I've had in Senegal.
